New Moon in Pisces

New Moon in Pisces

This week we have a New Moon in Pisces on February 27 at 7:45 pm EDT (find your time here).

In astrology, the New Moon is a time of new beginnings and wiping the slate clean. It's when you set your intention for the lunar cycle ahead and call into your life what you want - that could be a physical, tangible thing or something like more love, a joyful daily routine, or a deeper connection to your intuition.

This New Moon is the thing creative dreams are made of.

A Pisces Moon in general speaks to our creative and intuitive sides, bringing our artistic tendencies to the surface and allowing us to find a deeper connection with our muse.

In the Northern Hemisphere, if you look outside now you may see the first of the Spring growth popping up. Yellow dandelions and daffodils, purple dwarf irises and henbit. White clover.

These are the early Spring crops. The ones that nourish the bees as they emerge all sleepy eyed from their winter nap.

Our society often views these plants and flowers as weeds. Weeds that we pull, spray, and do everything we can to eradicate. But those weeds are the life blood for others. They are what nurture and strengthen during those chilly early Spring days.

What nourishment have you eradicated from your life due to the demands of society?

What fills your cup and brings you joy but you’ve shoved it aside in favor of fitting in, going with crowd, not wanting to rock the boat?

What sings to your soul but you stuff your ears to block it out because someone else told you that it wasn’t good enough? That it was a weed. A nuisance. An eyesore.

There will always, always, be someone who doesn’t like what you’re doing for one reason or another. But going through life without soul nourishment, without the tender devotion required to uplift our soul despite the terrors of the world around us, it weakens us. It holds us back. It keeps us small.

This New Moon, rededicate yourself to your joy and creativity. Let it shimmer through you and shine in all the dark places as you move through your days.

This New Moon features a huge stellium in Pisces, with the Moon, Sun, Saturn, Mercury, South Node, and Neptune all in Pisces, so there is a huge emphasis on Pisces energy. Jupiter is square the New Moon, which means while we’ll feel optimistic and hopeful, we can also have rose-colored glasses on.

You may also find that your dreams bring special insights around the time of this New Moon in Pisces, so if you don’t already keep a dream journal, now is a good time to begin one.
